How to split posts onto multiple pages?

Reasons why aside, how would you split a post onto multiple pages?

I’ve seen this done on news sites for particularly long articles, where the article is split across 2+ individual pages. There’s a sort of pagination allowing the reader to go forwards & back in that article.

How would you do this using only one .md post file in Jekyll?

I don’t think you can with just jekyll.

Oh, well. Other possible solutions are beginning to form to do what I need in the long run. Thanks.
