Show the date for the next in a series of recurring events in the future automatically

We’ve started using Jekyll for our Makerspace Website and one of the things I’d like to do is to have the date of our next meeting automatically published on the page.

We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month, so in theory this should be fairly simple to do - look up the next date that matches this pattern and display it - but I’m struggling to see how I’d manage that with the date filter.

Is this something that is possible, or should I be using a different tool for this particular part of the site?

You can/should use Javascript for this. At least, that is what I did.

Sometimes the answer is right in front of my eyes, of course Javascript is the answer, thank you for giving my brain a short, sharp slap this morning!
