I’d like to try out a few of the new tags introduced in Liquid 5. For example, the Liquid 5 docs recommend using render instead of include. Can I upgrade to Liquid 5 or am I restricted to the tags listed in the Jekyll docs?

I gather that Liquid 5 introduces breaking changes that may make it impossible to officially integrate with Jekyll 4. There is a pull request that shows how to upgrade Jekyll:

>
> fixes #8615
> fixes #8535
>
> Unfortunately, liquid v5 is not backwards compatible… with liquid 4 version - there are plenty of \[breaking changes\](https://github.com/Shopify/liquid/blob/master/History.md#breaking-changes).
>
> And while I managed to loosen up dependency, it even compiles and deploys. I wonder what other issues can liquid gem update bring?
